There’s not much to say about today. Margaret had an awful night and was doing everything she could to manage her pain. We packed up camp and headed south on Highway 101, with the goal of reaching the room she had booked for us to recoup in at Reedsport, just over 8 miles away. I’m not sure how far we made it. A couple miles maybe? We came to a wide spot in the road where luckily I got phone service and I called a taxi to come pick us up.
So that’s the end of the hike. Someday, Ben and I plan to finish it. For us and for her.
Meg was still adamant that we not leave the coast yet (we had the room already paid for 2 nights along with a campsite in Coos Bay.) Ben was joining us for the weekend and she wanted to at least have a great weekend before we headed home. She made a Dr appointment for that Monday. The rest of her story can be found here. There are a couple more posts for me to write about the fun we had that weekend, but they are not hiking, so I will be posting them here.
[…] Last day here. […]
AS I hopefully enjoy my own kids this Sunday. I will be thinking a great deal of all you. For the Mom, who for what ever reason God took home, and took away from Will and Lucy way too soon, and for the new mom and new family that they now have. I will say as we say in our house. “Happy Momma’s Day”… Becky
Life can get busy, and what’s important changes. But I hope you and Ben never ever loose site of that plan of finishing the hike for the 3 of you.
