We are back in action today! Well, a little bit at least. Planned on an easy three miles down to Beachside State Park. After squeezing the most out of our motel room with showers and tv, we hit the beach at 11am.
So long, Waldport. You were a nice waypoint.
We reached camp a couple hours later, after a mostly uneventful walk. Contrary to what we had heard, the hiker/biker sites at Beachside were quite nice and private.
We set up camp, cooked up some mac&cheese for lunch, and were joined by another "hiker" who tried to chat us up, but soon wandered off. He wandered off, leaving us feeling a bit distrustful. Finished off the mac&cheese for dinner, read a lot more of our book, then went to sleep. We are trying out our new sleeping bags tonight. It was decided that to lighten the packs a switch to ultra-light mummy bags was needed. I was apprehensive, but willing to try…
