Zero walking miles today. My foot throbbed all night long (a new development) and it became clear that we needed to take a few days off to let it heal. Being stuffed inside a sweaty boot and trod upon for hours on end was not working. We first decided to just go home with Ben and return Thursday evening. After breakfast in the hotel we stopped at the Otis Cafe for some of their amazing bread to take home. In the parking lot, we went around and around and finally changed our minds and decided that staying on the coast would feel less like giving up. Meg found us a cheap room in Waldport and we headed south. After a stop at Fred Meyer for groceries and supplies we had a little picnic in the sun (!) on the beach in Waldport.
Yes, the hat I’m wearing is ridiculous. Ben picked it up for $2 and found it awesome. (It says “player” and has an old-school nintendo controller on it.)
Meg and I stayed in the room the rest of the afternoon, me with my foot up and unencumbered with boot or sock and smeared with antibiotic gel. The idea is to not use it as much as possible for the next couple days. Much to our delight, the room got the Food Network, our very favorite channel.
That evening we did go out for a little 1/3 mile stroll around town.
Shadows are fun after weeks of fogginess.
Blue sky! This cool building was a lawyer’s office. Gotta love beach towns.
