Only did about a mile today, down to the Kiwanda Community/Senior Center. I have an injured foot that I have been ignoring as much as possible, but it’s beginning to get infected and not want to fit in my boot. I also have to take aleve and get about a mile in each day before I stop limping and just numb out the pain. We meet up with Meg’s family today. Her sister is trained in sports medicine and will take a look and see what we should do.
Clay came by to chat and say goodbye this morning. We gave him the 500hikes link: Hi Clay!
The Community Center is where we catch the bus down to Neskowin, where our ride over Cascade Head will pick us up. We decided to skip Cascade Head as the Traverse Trail is still blocked by major windfall and 101 is quite dangerous to walk along that stretch. Our wait was lovely. For about an hour we got to see some deer, read magazines and sit in comfy chairs.
On the bus, wee!
Chilling out in Neskowin.
Meg’s sister Liz, her boyfriend Jeff, and his daughter Laney pick us up and whisk us at lightspeed down to a friend’s house on Devil’s Lake in Lincoln City. We are meeting Meg’s dad, mom and kids (and later, Ben) to celebrate Laney’s birthday. Lots of fun and relaxation abounded. Ben had sent along civilian clothes so we were able to wash all our hiking tech wear.
Lucy and I share a laugh and a snuggle.
Bill took all the kids on a fun boat ride.
Laney laughs with her dad as they frolic in the water.
Will waits his turn while Liz realizes that the slide is meant for kid-sized butts.
This, and eat, is what Meg and I did…
It was a really lovely day. The problem is my foot. Liz is worried and thinks it will get worse and cause big problems. Ben, Meg and I stayed at a hotel in Lincoln City and decided our next course of action.
