Today we walked from Netarts to Cape Lookout State Park, about 7 miles, all on the road. We took advantage of our room to re-wash and blow-dry our wet socks, air out the tent and sleeping bags, shower, and watch a movie. Finally checked out at noon. The route for the day is along Netarts Bay Road to Whiskey Creek Road.
Along Whiskey Creek Road is the amazing Whiskey Creek BBQ & Grill. We have been anticipating this stop for weeks! We were not disappointed. Everything was awesome. Even got a slice of apple pie to go.
I’m laughing in this shot because the chef and our server (who we chatted with extensively during our meal) are laughing at us through the window as we take this cheesy shot. Great stop altogether.
After a short stop at the fish hatchery we reach Cape Lookout State Park with no problems and set up in one of their hiker sites. They are also all private and set away from the main campground to make for a very peaceful stay. We are once again able to have a long evening fire with just found wood. Simple pleasures.
Pie time! It turns out our awesome server snuck an extra piece in for us. Delicious.
