This blog is about three people, their muddy boots, and a checklist.
A while ago, we discovered a book called 100 Hikes in Northwest Oregon & Southwest Washington. Contrary to its title, contained within these pages are 207 hikes practically in our neighborhood, trail guides to some of the most beautiful places in this most scenic part of the world. Many of these hikes are off the beaten path, and without the book we would have driven right past them.
Later, we discovered the sister publications of the first book: 100 hikes in central, southern, eastern, and coastal Oregon. We had found our calling, and began our quest to complete them all. We will document our adventures here.
Who we are:
This blog is the brainchild of Becky, Ben, and Meg.
Becky – Becky Jenson was born in the Northwest. She is a professional photographer by trade, foodie by choice, and world traveler when possible. She will not hike in sunglasses because it changes the color of the scenery. Look for many pictures taken by her both for fun and for work.
Ben – Ben Straub was born in Wyoming. Though his day job of choice is behind a desk he is no stranger to the outdoors. He loves geeking out with computers, toys and gadgets of all sorts. If a kid, dog, or really large trail meal has to be carried, Ben is the man to do it.
Meg – Margaret Straub was born in the Northwest as well. She is an accountant that has not done much accounting as of late. In late 2009 Meg was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and subsequently underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and will soon embark on radiation. She packs the packs, lunches, books, and adventure into every hike.
We are occasionally joined by guest hikers and pugs. The most common of these are:
William and Lucy – The kids
Digby and Jackson – The pugs
Chuck, Phoebe, Roger, Kay, Ken, and Dorothy – The parents
